Subject/Recommendation:

(Second Reading)  Approve an Ordinance amending the City's Approved Budget for Fiscal Year 2016-17 (Budget Amendment No. 4) by increasing total appropriations for expenditures in the General Fund by $100,000.00 and decreasing the fund balance in the General Fund by the same amount in order to provide funding to reimburse Union Pacific Railroad Company for engineering review costs associated with the City's design for the four rail crossing quiet zones to be constructed in Kyle. ~ Perwez Moheet, Director of Finance

Other Information:

On March 21, 2017, the City Council approved a deposit reimbursement agreement with Union Pacific Railroad Company (UPRR) for the City to reimburse UPRR for the cost of review and approval of City's preliminary engineering and other related services in an amount not to exceed $100,000.00 associated with the implementation of railroad quiet zones on Center Street, South Street, Opal Lane, and Roland Lane.

 

As part of the City Council's action on March 21, 2017 to approve the deposit agreement with UPRR, the City Council also directed staff to bring back a budget amendment to provide the $100,000.00 in funding for the City's deposit agreement with UPRR.
