Two bids were opened on July 14, 2016 for the 2016 Miscellaneous Streets Micro-Surfacing Project. The scope of work included traffic control, 81,956 SY of micro-surfacing and removal and replacement of striping.
Micro-surfacing is a protective seal coat which extends the life of an asphalt pavement for about 5 to 10 years. It is a thin layer of polymer modified asphalt emulsion blended with finely crushed stone to provide traction.
The following streets are being resurfaced.
- Witte - FM 2770 to McNaughton
- Waterleaf Blvd. - FM 150 to New Bridge Drive
- City Lights Drive - Marketplace Avenue to IH 35
- Sledge Street - W. Center Street to Opal Lane
- Downing Way - Dacy Lane to Waterloo Drive
- Kyle Parkway - IH 35 to Dacy Lane
Viking Construction, Inc. has completed the work on all of our previous contracts and have done good work. Weather permitting, the contractor estimates the resurfacing will be done in October due to his other commitments. |
