The northbound lane of Kyle Crossing from Kohlers Crossing to Vista Ridge Drive has been damaged by heavy truck traffic. Test cores were taken along this section of roadway and the base and asphalt surface indicated there was only a few inches of base material and asphalt, thus the main reason for the failure of the roadway.
Recently, the Public Works Department restriped the roadway and the center lane is now being used by northbound traffic. In an effort to maintain the integrity of the existing roadway structure, it is recommended that truck traffic be prohibited from using the "new" northbound lane.
The engineering department is currently preparing plans for reconstructing the existing road and providing a stronger foundation to withstand the anticipated heavier loads. Once the road is reconstructed, the prohibition will be rescinded and truck traffic will be able to use this section of road again. |
